An injury should be reported within 30 days but you have two years to file a workers’ compensation claim.

Can I change doctors?
By law, you have the absolute right to change doctors one time during the entire claim. The request must be made to the insurance company in writing.
Can I pick my own doctor?
If you request a one-time change of doctors, in writing, and the insurance company does not respond within 5 days, you get to select your next doctor.
Can my employer fire me when I am out on workers' compensation?
It is against the law for your employer to fire you for filing a workers’ compensation claim.
Can my health insurance provided through my employer (partly or wholly) be discontinued while I am out of work due to a doctor's excuse?
Yes, but after the insurance ends, your workers’ compensation checks will be increased to reflect the employer’s contribution to your health insurance.
Can I sue my employer for their negligence?
You cannot sue your employer for their negligence because workers’ compensation is the exclusive remedy against your employer for injuries at work. However, you may be able to sue a third party who may have caused your accident or injury.
